Katie Johnson, Administrator
Katie joined the LaVerna Village team in May 2012 as Assistant Administrator, and subsequently was promoted to Administrator in September 2013. Katie completed her Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 1998 from Northwest Missouri State University and also obtained an Associate’s degree in Personnel Management from the Air Force Academy. She retired from the Air National Guard as a Technical Sergeant in February 2003. Her work experience includes certified nursing assistant, construction management, and business management.
Dana Sansone, Financial Services Coordinator
Dana started as the Financial Services Coordinator in October of this year. She has been with LaVerna for almost a year in the medical records department.
Dana is responsible for all financial transactions for the facility as well as patient financial matters including insurance, trust funds, Medicaid applications, discretionary spending and more. Our business manager acts as a liaison between our corporate billing department and our residents to explain any financial matter that may arise during their stay with us.
Barb Munsell, Director of Nursing
Barb is a native of Andrew County and has been employed with LaVerna Village for since 1986. She has held many positions with LaVerna Village including Charge/Floor Nurse for all shifts, care plans, Instructor for CNA/CMT classes and Assistant Director of Nursing. She currently is the Director of Nursing which she has held for the past 9 years.
A graduate of Savannah High School and her nursing degree from Methodist Medical Center, Barb has strong local roots to the community and with LaVerna. She is an experienced, long term care nurse, who has great leadership and management skills. We are lucky to have her at LaVerna Village.

Diane began her nursing career in southwest Iowa at a nursing facility as a 3-11 charge nurse near her hometown. Her husband’s teaching job brought their family of two small children to the Savannah area in August of 1984. She and her family continue to enjoy living and working in the Savannah area. Her passion for caring for the elderly brought her to LaVerna in October of 1985. She began as a charge nurse, remaining at that position for eleven years. She then became the Director of Nursing for the 40 bed ICF unit at LaVerna Heights until March of 2003 when LaVerna Heights closed. Diane was then offered her current position of MDS/Care Plan Coordinator. She is responsible for developing and maintaining a current resident assessment and plan of care for each individual resident per Federal and State Regulations. With these duties she enjoys meeting with residents and families for their care planning needs on a regular basis to ensure that every resident’s stay at LaVerna is a positive experience.

Jennifer Kusilek, Social Services Director/Chaplain
Jennifer has been with LaVerna since 2014 and has served as an Activity Assistant and Chaplain prior to becoming the Social Services Director. She will continue to serve as Chaplain along with her new role. Jennifer has her BS degree in Mass Communication/Broadcast Journalism and also has her SSD and AD qualifications. She is married and has three sons.
Donna Peterson, DM
Donna has worked at LaVerna Village for over twenty five years as a CNA, activity assistant, & Restorative Coordinator. IN 2001 she took the position as Dietary Manager; taking the Dietary Managers course through the University of North Dakota and became certified. Donna has one daughter, Stephanie who works with her in dietary.
Debbie Price, HR
Debbie has been with LaVerna Village since 1976. She started as a CNA for 5 years, then went into Activities , as the Activity Director for 15 years and has been in HR for 15 years. “I love the Nursing Home Business , working with the staff and of course I love our Residents, who represent living history.”
Eva Williams, Activities Director
Eva has been the Activity Director with LaVerna since 2007. Eva graduated from Missouri Western with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. Before coming to LaVerna Village, she was the Quality Auditor for Aegis Communications in St. Joseph.
Eva is a native of the St. Joseph area and currently lives there with her family.
Mark White, Operations Manager
LaVerna would like to introduce our newest member to the team, Mark White. Mark has been with LaVerna Village since 2013, and was promoted to Manager in 2014.
Environmental Services functions as our maintenance department. From painting rooms to laying tile, installing new flat screen TVs to changing light bulbs, we are constantly finding new ways to keep our Environmental Services department on their toes! Because we are continually evolving our facility to offer the best surroundings available, our Environmental Services department not only maintains the current standards that we have in place within our facility, but is also responsible for our grounds keeping. You’ll find these gentlemen all around the building doing simple work such as hanging a picture for a resident or landscaping the exterior of our facility. Should you need their services in your particular room or have a need that you think could use their help, they are always happy to lend a hand!
Laura has been with LaVerna Village since June, 2o06. She been supervisor or team leader since then in her department. Originally from Fillmore, she and her husband still live in Andrew County. She is blessed with one son and one grandson.
